I Do

I can't imagine my life without you,
I won't even try.
You are the one who makes life worth living
You're my heart's desire,

All the words of the poets,
Throughout the ages,
Could never express my heart,
But I'll try, I'll try
With this simple vow.

I do, I always have, I always will,
Love you
Until the stars above no longer shine
Honey, you'll be mine, it's true
When it comes to loving you...
I do.
I can't remember one moment before you
Came into my life
My life began that moment I met you,
You're the reason why,

No song ever written,
No song ever sung,
Could ever express my heart,
But I'll try, I'll try,
With this simple vow.

I do, I always have, I always will,
Love you
Until the stars above no longer shine
Honey, you'll be mine, it's true
When it comes to loving you...
I do.

As Judy and I approached our 25th anniversary, I knew I needed to give here something special. Still, 25 years of raising 5 sons and putting them through college had made a trip to Europe or Hawaii impossible. I decided, therefore, to give here something uniqueand special. I began writing I Do some 8 months before our July 15th anniversary and finished it on February 14, 1997. On that date I did a concert for a Sweethearts Banquetat the Evangelical Covenant Church in Princeton, Illinois. I surprised Judy with the song that night. I thought that might be the last time I would sing it since it was really just supposed to be a song between us. However, others have picked it up and it has been sung at quite a few weddings over the past 10 years. I guess it must have struck a universal chord, somehow. This particular recording of I Do features the incredible piano work of my buddy Matt Podschweit.
